"COMMUNITY TAKES TIME, EFFORT AND RISK, BUT IT WILL ALWAYS BE WORTH IT."
"I first started serving at New Heights on the worship team and began to realize that it looked so different from what I expected it to be. It isn't just slides and songs. I finally felt free to open my heart up to Jesus while worshipping. With that mentality, I wanted to get more connected to the church, but always told myself I would do a group next semester. A couple summers later, I did STS (Summer Training School), and saw how community can be a group of people who grow and fight for one another. I realized then that God designed this walk to be with Him and also with other believers - I realized I couldn't do it alone.
Now I'm in my first community group and I occasionally find myself resorting back to the old mindset, but I have to press in during those moments. I've seen so beautifully that community takes time, effort and risk, but it will always be worth it. This has begun a process of trusting God and trusting my community group as well. I always talked about doing a community group, but it wasn't until I decided to go and do it that I saw God move in that area of my life."
